Biggest underdog in football

Jamie Vardy is one of football’s biggest underdogs who has gone from a no one to one of the most clinical strikers in the prem. From non-league to Premier League, we see one of the most interesting character and role model in English football.

After working his way through the youth system at Sheffield Wednesday, he was released at the age of 16. This put his dreams down of being a footballer. He then entered Stocks-bridge Park Steels youth system to carry on his goal of reaching the highest level. He worked hard and then was rewarded when he made his senior debut in 2007. He would go on to become a top goal scorer. This caught the attention of Halifax Town, with manager Neil Aspin admiring this young goal scorer, signing him for £15,000 in 2010. This move was a success as he finished the club’s top goal scorer and player of the year, with 26 goals in 37 games as they won the league.

Then in 2012, Leicester were looking for Vardy for 1 million. The 2014-15 season is where Vardy made his name known as he was now in the biggest league in the world. . His first Premier League goal came in a match of the match performance against Manchester United where he scored and set up another four goals to win 5-3, after coming from 3-1 down. Vardy then went on to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy record of scoring in 11 consecutive goals.

Within 5 years he went from non league to the best league in world football.

Look to the legend! We asked players who started out just like you, before all the hard work took them to the top. At his peak, Henry wasn’t simply a normal type of forward. He was a penalty-box poacher, target man and a advanced runner. He is one of the most underrated headers of a ball the Premier League has ever seen. He also had a phenomenal technical ability, tactical intelligence, physical ability and insane flair that no other contender can match. Some scored more goals in a game but nobody scored as many goals and of a comparable quality, whilst also creating just as many, and also winning things.
